Sichuan Province hosted two big tourism events in September. First one was the 22nd UNWTO General Summit, September 11-16, that was held in Chengdu where Croatia’s State Secretary Frano Matušic meet with the leaders of Chinese National Tourism Association (CNTA), and the newly elected UNWTO General Secretary, Zurab Pololikashvili. |
During the summit, the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) was established, as a global platform for international cooperation in tourism. A few days afterwards, September 17-19, the 4th International Tourism Expo Sichuan 2017 was held in Emeishan. This very well organised Expo attracted more than 100 exhibitors from China and around 30 international ones, one of them being Croatia. This Expo showed that Chinese social networks and internet technology has become a very important promotional tool in China, especially in tourism. Social websites, Weibo and Wechat, are the leading ones that are used by over one billion users in China. |
